Describe life before the weight loss.
Peter had always had reasonably healthy habits. However, ever so slowly, poor eating habits were sneaking into his day. Particularly, when it came to portion control.
His moment of truth came when he reached 98 kg and his doctor said he needed to start Statins (prescription medication) to get his cholesterol under control.
Why did Peter choose the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet?
Having never been on a diet before, Peter jumped at the opportunity to try the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet after his wife Meegan, a nurse, did some research into the program. He was also happy to find out he could access it through his health fund.
What did Peter like most about the programme?
Peter’s confidence in the program fueled his ability to succeed. “The diet is inherently sensible - it feels logical and based on science,” he said. Peter also loved using the app for food and exercise tracking, meal planning, and creating shopping lists.
“I felt like I got results from the first week and was able to build on that sense of achievement by tracking my progress, even on the weeks where my weight went back a bit!”
What have been the benefits beyond the scale?
Healthwise, Peter has come a long way in managing his cholesterol. His knees no longer ache and life is just easier: “I can run for the bus without any shortness of breath, and I’m sleeping better.”
Peter’s general sense of wellbeing has also benefitted from the weight loss.
Peter's advice for anyone thinking of joining?
“I just feel happier in my body and there are so many small moments across the day that remind me of how much more satisfied I feel with life now.”
His advice to others: “Be patient and stick with it. You will be rewarded across every facet of your wellbeing - physical, mental and emotional!”
